Breonna Taylor’s aunt and Jacob Blake’s dad are creating a movement of families that support each other.

“I don’t want people to be alone.” Police officers who kill or injure people in the line of duty often receive therapy, paid leave and lawyers. The families of their victims, largely Black, Indigenous, and Latino people, usually get little or no support from the government as they maneuver through their grief, media coverage, and questions about whether they can or should sue to hold the police accountable. There’s now a small but growing group of people, including the relatives of Breonna Taylor and James Blake, who travel the country helping those who need support and guidance.
