Internship: 6 months

Part Time: 10 hours per week

Compensation: $15-$18/hr (based on location)

Location: Remote

Deadline: 07/20/2023 (or until closed online)

Start Date: August or September (TBD)

Reports to: CBSC Program Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

People’s Solar Energy Fund (PSEF) is recruiting a small team to serve in part-time internships aimed at both building their knowledge of "community-owned solar" and providing organizing support to community-based organizations (CBOs) with which PSEF will be partnering - in an initiative called "Communities of Color Building Solar Capacity" (CBSC).

The goal of this internship is two-fold:

a) to provide meaningful preliminary training in community development and solar energy to promising practitioners who can then pursue meaningful employment and leadership opportunities in the burgeoning solar field (greatly in need of diverse leadership); and

b) to support our CBO partners - such that at the end of 6 months the CBOs have provided vital education to their communities regarding "community-owned" solar and have preliminary plans in place for developing their own projects.

PSEF is an equal opportunity employer (see our full Equal Opportunity and Diversity statement below) that seeks a large and diverse applicant pool. Candidates who are not sure they fully meet all the requirements are still encouraged to apply.

ABOUT PSEF

The People’s Solar Energy Fund is an innovative member-directed nonprofit advancing energy democracy by supporting the growth of community-led, community-owned solar projects with a focus on low income and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities. Moving collectively to aggregate resources, share technical know-how and build a shared commons, PSEF provides access to funding, technical assistance and shared services to a network of nonprofit and coop solar developers.
